SELF-CENTERED DRILL POINTS: THE KEY TO CONSISTENT HOLE LOCATION AND SIZE
Oliver drill grinders are capable of adding a "self-centering" drill point as pictured above. The elevated center portion of the chisel angle makes initial contact during the drilling action and practically eliminates any walking or wandering of the drill. This is particularly advantageous on numerically controlled operations. It is also useful on conventional drilling equipment.
Center to center distance can be held to closer tolerances in most instances. Often, center drilling can be eliminated. The self-centering drill point also helps maintain consistent hole sizes. No accessories are required on our machines to produce this particular point, only a few extre seconds of grinding time is involved.
